One is a printable grid: axes, no candles, something a class fills in with a pencil. That is a sheet of paper, and an image search serves it better than any application will.

The other is a chart you can actually set: real candles whose open, high, low and close you choose, which you then export as a picture. That is what this page is about, and it is the one worth having when the chart has to end up in a slide, a handout or a post.

The difference matters because only the second can show a specific shape. A blank grid cannot illustrate an engulfing candle. A chart you set can.

Open the canvas and place candles one at a time. Each starts as an ordinary candle and you drag its open, high, low and close into position, so the body and wicks always agree with the four numbers behind them.

Choose how many candles the point needs and no more. A pattern that takes three candles to make does not read better with thirty around it, and an uncluttered figure is usually the reason somebody wanted a template rather than a screenshot.

If you want a longer stretch of plausible chart as background, one can be generated from market statistics and then edited, which is faster than placing every candle by hand.

A figure that will sit in a deck or a handout has to suit the page around it. Candle colors, body and wick widths, the background and the grid are all adjustable, so a chart can be made to match a template you already use rather than arriving in somebody else's house style.

Annotation is on the same canvas: lines, zones, arrows, text and callouts, plus the measurement and pattern tools. The argument and the chart it is about stay in one image, which is the thing a screenshot plus a separate caption never quite manages.

Export produces a clean picture of the chart with none of the application's own interface in it. That is the whole point of the round trip: what lands in your slide is the chart, not a photograph of a program.

The Free plan draws, annotates and exports with no time limit, so a one-off figure for a presentation does not need a paid plan.

A drawn chart is invented, and where that is not what you want, load real forex candles from Market data in the Data section of the profile menu, or import an OHLC file, and the same annotation and export tools apply to the session that actually happened.

Worth saying plainly either way: candles you drew did not trade. If the figure is going somewhere an audience might assume otherwise, say it is an illustration.
